MotorSport Vision (MSV) is the UK's leading motor racing circuit
operator, managing a collection of world-renowned motorsport venues,
including the iconic Brands Hatch and Donington Park circuits. These
venues host numerous prestigious racing events throughout our race
season including the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, British
Touring Car Championship, GT World Challenge and the WSBK. Among the
circuits in MSV's portfolio is Bedford Autodrome, the home of
PalmerSport. PalmerSport offers corporate driving experiences where
guests can experience driving high-end race prepared cars around a
purpose-built motorsport complex.
The Electrical & Mechanical Applications Engineer at MotorSport
Vision will be working across both MSV and PalmerSport activities
ensuring the seamless operation of a variety electrical and electronic
systems across our vehicles, race circuits and corporate events. You
will be expected to help design, develop and manage electrical and
mechanical installations and associated maintenance tasks,
particularly in the lead-up to major race events and Palmersport
activities at Bedford Autodrome. A successful candidate will possess
a deep understanding of electrical and general mechanical engineering
principles as well as have experience of microcontroller hardware and
software, particularly in the context of automotive or motorsport applications.
Key Responsibilities:

Installations, Maintenance & Development:
-
- You will be responsible for conducting installation and
maintenance of trackside equipment in preparation for major
events alongside our Circuit Infrastructure Engineer, ensuring
all track equipment (track lighting, track limit sensors, noise
monitoring systems, CCTV, and similar) is functioning as expected.
- Preparing and maintaining trackside systems at Bedford
Autodrome for Palmersport events, ensuring everything is
operational and safe ahead of our standard-setting driving events.
- Developing, improving and refining hardware and software will
be integral to the role.

- You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of electrical
engineering principles, with a basic understanding of the
electrical and electronic equipment used in race circuit
infrastructure, including microcontroller-based hardware and
(ideally) software.
- Applying experience in mechanical engineering or automation
engineering to enhance system efficiency and reliability, both
trackside and on vehicles.
- Engaging in mechanical / electrical design and fault-finding
tasks, identifying and resolving issues promptly and
implementing long term fixes.

- Expect to be hands on, installing, enabling and maintaining
various hardware and equipment across race circuits, including
power and comms networks.
- Handling installations involving CAT 5 Ethernet and support
fibre and network installations as needed enable systems.
- Working with high and low voltage devices , ranging from 5V to
240V, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
- Working within team of three Engineers in various
specialities, including a Vehicle Systems Engineer, a Circuit
Infrastructure Engineer and an assistant whom works across all
three departments.
You will be / have:
- A good logical, analytical and technical mindset, driven by results
- Proven experience in mechanical and electrical engineering,
ideally supported by a degree in a relevant field
- Experience in mechanical/electrical design and diagnostics.
- Willingness to travel to various race circuits across the UK and Europe
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Competence in handling high and low voltage electrical systems
- Experience working collaboratively in a small team, to get the
best results quickly
- Familiarity with CAT 5 Ethernet and fibre network installations
- Proactive, safety-conscious, and capable of working under pressure
to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Given this Electrical & Mechanical Engineer vacancy is a group
role, you will have a requirement to regularly travel to various
circuits both in the UK and overseas. Therefore freedom to travel
freely in and out of the country is essential. Your main place of work
will be Bedford Autodrome, MK44 2YP. You will have access to a company
van for work use, therefore a full driving licence is essential. Your
working hours will be based on 42.5 hours a week and will include a
variety of weekend and evening working hours.
