Human Resources & Organisational Development

This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional and friendly team delivering HR Services, Professional Development and Training, HR/Self-Service systems, Occupational Health & Wellbeing, Diversity and Inclusion, Pay and Reward and People Strategy objectives across the University. The Human Resources/Organisational Development Officer (HR & OD) will be responsible for delivering an excellent HR & OD service for the University.

You will be an enthusiastic individual with experience in developing and planning professional development events as well as proven experience of providing high-level advice on employee relations casework across a broad range of people management issues, including formal HR policies and procedures. This will require you to have an up-to-date and thorough understanding of employment law and HR practice along with successful experience of dealing with casework in a complex organisation.

You will have a genuine interest in developing relevant and helpful people management practices with an interest in professional development, employee engagement, diversity and inclusion and well-being. Alongside excellent problem-solving skills, the post holder will work flexibly and confidentially with empathy and discretion and, using excellent excel skills, will use these in the preparation of data reports and infographics, with commentary and numerical analysis, about engagement in services and staff feedback through surveys. The post holder will manage and oversee the University’s performance management processes.

Working closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer and the HR/Professional Development Manager, the post holder will provide a helpful, responsive, professional, customer-focused service for the University and will work with members of the HR team, managers and staff across the University to promote and influence the University’s People Strategy. The post holder will work across four or five days a week in their 0.8fte role. This will require the post holder to carry out HR & OD activities across both University campuses in Chichester and Bognor Regis.
