The University of Chichester can trace its origins back to 1839. As the only University in West Sussex, we recognise the economic, social and cultural importance of 'place' and the need to meet both local and global challenges. Located on two beautiful, leafy campuses in Chichester and Bognor Regis, all of our staff are instrumental in achieving our University mission and vision. Our People strategy 'Working together - Supporting each other', places our staff at the heart of our plans.

The role

This is a new opportunity for an ambitious and experienced leader to join our team of financial professionals. The role has responsibility for financial management information - covering financial planning, reporting and analytics and plays a partnering role, working with all levels of University management, including senior leaders, Directors and Heads of Department.

You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to provide insightful and in-depth analysis and accurate forecasting of all categories of income and expenditure directly impacting the University's financial sustainability. You will have the support of a dedicated team of Management Accountants who will expect you to have significant experience in the consolidation and production of financial management information and reports.

What you will need to succeed

You will be ideally a professionally qualified Accountant, from either the private or public sector. Experience and knowledge of the Higher Education sector is desirable, but not essential. With a track record of success in leading financial management team in a large and complex organisation, you will be able to demonstrate great interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels and to get the best from people. You will be an excellent communicator and people manager with a team ethos and positive approach to work, able to remain resilient and self-motivated to consistently deliver in a changing environment.

What you will get in return

We believe in giving you an opportunity to get more from your job, by helping you grow and progress, by acknowledging your talent, and by rewarding you well. In joining our exciting and vibrant community, you will give us your energy, enthusiasm and the drive to make a difference, which is why you will have access to a number of different benefits, which includes some of the following: 30 days' annual leave plus University closure days and Bank holidays, a generous pension scheme, access to on-campus facilities and professional development opportunities.

Confidential informal enquiries are welcomed by Elisabeth Whitaker, Director of Human Resources, on 01243 816119, Email: E.Whitaker@chi.ac.uk, or via Susan Coulter, Executive Officer, on 01243 816288, Email: S.Coulter@chi.ac.uk.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.
